Experience & Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license, required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience providing nursing care of acutely ill patients with renal disease, required.

  • Correctional healthcare experience preferred.

  • Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.

  • Active "Hands on Training" BLS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.

Responsibilities

Below is a list of your responsibilities as an Dialysis Registered Nurse with YesCare located at the Philadelphia Detention Center, Philadelphia, PA.

  • 6a-4:30p; Monday, Wednesday, Friday

  • PRN position

  • Dialysis DC has 4 chairs and used Fresenius 2008T Machines

  • Perform patient assessment, vital sign, and all other parameters of the ESRD patients, review dialysis orders, determine general physical and mental condition of patient through observations and interview, assist in determining compliance to dietary or medication regimen, document compliance to dietary or medication regimen, document observations appropriately.

  • Provided chronic hemodialysis therapy: formulate a dialysis plan for ultra-filtration, initiate dialysis via various accesses, observe all safety measures, monitor patient vital signs applicable to ESRD patients. Able to administer medications, fluid therapy and blood products or other appropriate treatments per physician orders. Document activity appropriately in patient file.

  • Perform analysis of patient data; assess and monitor status of vascular accesses, review lab work, patient assessments, and report any relevant changes or abnormalities to physician and/or the Health Service Administrator.

  • To deliver quality care and treat patients in a considerate, respectful manner.

  • Ability to prepare and monitor dialysis machines and systems.

  • Ability to maintain dialyzer record and prepare dialysis water treatment system for use according to established procedure.

  • Inform technical staff of any malfunctions.

  • Obtain machine and water cultures as requested.

  • Maintain patient medical records for appropriate documentation.

  • Compliance withYesCareand PPS policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations for patient care and services.

  • Review pre and post dialysis care with patient.

  • Provide ongoing patient education.

  • Participate with orientation and training of new staff members.

  • Attend staff meetings and educational activities.

  • Attends annual nursing skills fair training.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

  • Other duties as assigned by management
