YesCare Corp Director, Clinical Education in Brentwood, Tennessee

Experience & Requirements

TheDirector, Clinical Education reports to the SVP, Chief Nurse Executive, Patient Care Services and supportstraining and development of the organization's employees by providing strategic development of clinical administrative education. The primary goals of the Director, Clinical Education include overseeing clinical competency orientation, professional development of clinical staff, compliance, and professional excellence through ongoing NCCHC/ACA standard compliance as well as guiding, coaching and mentoring staff.

The Director oversees and monitors the implementation of the clinical education programs, and provides guidance to executive leadership, staff, and employees on appropriate clinical education. Provides direct supervision of clinical account managers, EHR trainers, educator staff and dotted line to regional and site educator staff.

  • Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment

  • Master’s degree in nursing required, doctorate degree preferred.

  • Will consider BSN prepared nurse with significant education, training, and staff development experience

  • Basic Life Support Certified

  • At least two (3-5) years of experience in a correctional health environment and staff development or training experience in a clinical/healthcare setting equivalent

  • Business, healthcare administration or operations management knowledge preferred.

  • Knowledge of accreditation standards (NCCHC, ACA & state-specific) as well as with quality improvement programs and pervious clinical auditing experience preferred.

  • Proficient with the MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

  • Able to work and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

  • Knowledge of Learning Management System, Adult Learning Theory and Instructional Design experience

  • Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirement.

  • Up to 80% travel required.

Work Environment

Correctional officers provide security; however, some degree of risk of verbal and physical assault from inmates exists. As in any healthcare setting, employees may be exposed to communicable and/or infectious diseases. Inside work with periodic traveling (inter and intra state) to other locations with exposure to weather, temperature extremes and hazardous road conditions. Frequent standing and walking while presenting or performing job duties.

Because patients need round the clock care, working hours include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call. Rotating shifts, weekends as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required. Adheres to site/contract specific regarding on-call requirements and mandated schedules/overtime. Team members may be mandated to work shifts and/or overtime due to site/staffing or emergencies.

Essential staff is defined as healthcare and behavioral professionals that may be required or mandated to work due to site/staffing or emergencies (natural disaster, inclement weather, or other situations).

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to perform the following:

  1. Required to exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body.

  2. Required to kneel, stoop, crouch and/or crawl occasionally. Frequent walking throughout site; to include walking up and down flights of stairs.

  3. Must have and maintain sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful (physical, mental, and emotional) situations encountered on the job.

  4. Occasional running when responding to emergencies; must be able to perform BLS.

  5. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Frequently required to sit, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, and talk/hear.

  6. Requires critical thinking, organizational, decisive judgment, communication, good customer service skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks, be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions as needed. Must follow YesCare and departmental policies and procedures at all times.

A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.

Responsibilities

Below is a list of your responsibilities as a Director, Clinical Education with YesCare:

  • Provides leadership and oversight of all clinical education and professional development functions for the system enterprise, ensuring the provision of high-quality education services in the most cost-effective manner. Provides expert guidance and consultation in the areas of education, educational technologies, training, and professional development

  • Actively partner with Clinical Services (provider), Behavioral Health (BH), the Chief Clinical and Administrative Officer, andother training and onboarding staffto formulate learning objectives for new training programs, develop content / write materials, determine instructional methods, and select or develop participant guides and teaching aids.

  • Incorporates evidence-based research into educational plan, patient treatment plans, clinical, nursing, BH and operational practices

  • Serve as a mentor to nurses, and identify growth opportunities and educational needs for practicing nurses, BH staff, and clinical operators

  • Provide static and interactive content to the Instructional Design Specialist for e-learning course development.

  • Review, evaluate and modify / enhance existing clinical and clinical leader training programs and courses; recommend and coordinate program / course changes.

  • Develop and manage site leadership onboarding programs to include selection and training of mentors, progress tracking, feedback analysis, and enhancement implements.

  • Facilitate process and professional development in-services/training

  • Develops and enhances partnerships with academic organizations to positively impact workforce planning, hiring, transitions to professional practice, and advanced competency development. Works in collaboration with others to develop and implement strategies for sustainable workforce pipelines for key clinical positions through these academic partnerships.

  • Conduct research / literature reviews to identify new information, best practices, case studies etc. to enhance YesCare Health clinical learning processes and programs; identify opportunities to reuse/ repurpose content already developed.

  • Develop and execute existing and new approaches to instructor-led, e-learning, and other methods of training.

  • Design and implement follow-up activities and methodologies to strengthen and sustain knowledge gained/skills developed in training programs and courses.

  • Maintain an awareness of changes in NCCHC and ACA standards that could have an impact on the way in which YesCare Health clinicians deliver

  • Manages and provides consultation and oversight of corporate clinical account managers, EHR trainers, and corporate, regional and site clinical educators.

  • Conduct training evaluation assessments to assess effectiveness of training and track post-training performance improvement Performs annual nursing personnel learning needs assessment and works in partnership with corporate leadership to devise training plan to address the identifiedlearningneeds.

  • Performs other duties/tasks and participates in special projects/initiatives as Facilitates the completion of specialized/” just in time” training as assigned.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.
